The Major Pregnancy Symptom They Don’t Warn you About
No one told me to brace myself for a wave of anxiety.
When you get pregnant it feels like everyone has a story to share with you about their pregnancy or motherhood. They want to know how you’re feeling - are you tired? sick? nauseous? They had all three symptoms, and then some! From these anecdotes and the good ol’ internet (looking at you reddit) I was prepared for the worst physically. What I wasn’t prepared for was how anxious I’d feel.
No one told me to brace myself for a wave of anxiety. No one mentioned how every resource or helpful tip can feel like an overload of information. No one said you’d be constantly second guessing yourself:
‘was that ok to eat?’
‘are these cramps normal?’
‘do I have food poisoning or morning sickness?’
‘did the wine I had before I knew I was pregnant harm my baby?’
From the onset you feel this great responsibility for this growing life inside you that at times can feel almost crippling. I remember waking up in the middle of the night in a sheer panic over how to properly dress my baby for sleep so that he’s not too hot and not too cold. I was 8 weeks pregnant.
Thus began my wellness and mindfulness journey. I knew I couldn’t take care of this little one inside me without taking care of myself both mentally and physically.
The beauty I have found in the calm that I created throughout my pregnancy has more than made up for those overwhelming moments.
If the tips, tricks, practices and products I’ve found can help even just one other pregnancy along the way I want to be able to share that. The anxiety can feel overwhelming at times, don’t feel alone in that. The beauty I have found in the calm that I created throughout my pregnancy has more than made up for those overwhelming moments.
Don’t forget to take care of yourself mama - whether that means finding the perfect mocktail, skincare routine, podcast, exercise etc., it’s more important than you think.
Fog & glow is here to share to help you feel your best and enjoy this unique and life-changing experience to its fullest.
