Fall Baby Moon Trips: Ocean House - Watch Hill, Rhode Island
If you’re from the Northeast you’ve likely heard of the famous Victorian Relais & Châteaux property, Ocean House.
After all, it is a reoccurring favorite on all the travel magazines ‘best of’ lists. The ocean front hotel, which sits on a bluff overlooking 650 feet of private beach, is the picture of New England charm with its bright yellow paint and sweeping wrap around porch.
Ocean House is located in the sleepy town of Watch Hill, Rhode Island. You may have heard of their famous resident, Taylor Swift. The town itself is quiet quaint, an adjective you won’t be hearing paired with Ocean House. Aside from a few cute boutiques and restaurants, Watch Hill is mostly known for its stunning white beaches, making it a great summer escape. In our opinion, however, it’s the ideal fall trip. Nothing makes our heart soar quiet like watching the leaves on Main Street turn, or sitting under a heater cozied up in your favorite fall sweater as you overlook the wide beach, that feels as if it is just for you and your growing family.
Come to Ocean House with the true intent of a baby moon — a chance to truly relax and unwind before. The moment you arrive you will be encapsulated in the laid back luxury the hotel radiates. From their superb and attentive staff, to their tiny tokens of luxury like high end amenities and opulent toiletries.

The rooms are expectantly elegant, and a graceful mix of both modern and Victorian design. All rooms include a marble bathroom with separate showers and soaking tubs. Looking for some of the best sleep of your life? Ocean house beds are equipped with 400-thread-count linens, memory foam and goose down pillows, and a mattress we can only describe as incredibly comfy. The hotel offers rooms with property views, bay views, or ocean views. If possible we recommend a room with a balcony over looking the ocean. Picture yourself now - bundled up in a fluffy robe, sipping your morning tea, you feel your baby kick as you take in the smell of salt water and unwind the ocean breeze. Baby moon goals.
Of course, if your room doesn’t have ocean views, have no fear. The hotel has plenty of seating on their Seaside Terrace to soak in the Atlantic from. There you can relax under a heater, in your comfiest fall sweater. If you prefer to take in the sights from inside, head over to their Living Room and cozy up to the fireplace, where it truly feels like you’re lounging at a friends (very beautiful) home.
No baby moon trip would be complete without a visit to the spa, and OH! Spa is one you’ll not soon forget. According to Ocean House’s site the 12,000-square-foot luxury spa is “the only Forbes-rated five-star spa in Rhode Island and among only 56 spas in the world to achieve the five-star rating.” Take your plush robe and spa sandals over to their lounge chairs that line their floor to ceiling windows, as you over look the bluff. Kick back and let the staff wait on you with relaxing herbal teas or fruit infused water, prior to indulging in one of their countless treatments.
When you work up an appetite you won’t have to go far. The Inn is home to some of the best restaurants in Rhode Island. Make sure you make a reservation and request a table window-side at their famous restaurant, COAST. The five-star rated restaurant offers a seasonal menu that collaborates with local farms for the freshest ingredients. You can select from a prix-fixe four course menu or vegetarian menu with optional cheese courses available (confirm with your waiter the cheeses are pasteurized), either way come hungry! Looking for something a little more casual? Head to the Bistro for breakfast, lunch or dinner, where you can enjoy traditional American cuisine with New England flair. Be sure to stick around for the Sunday Jazz Brunch, a perfect send off for your baby moon. Patrons can expect a tower of charcuterie and seafood followed by signature brunch dishes like specialty pancakes, all accompanied by a live jazz/blues musician.
No matter the season, Ocean House will not disappoint. Embrace the New England charm, history and opulence. You’ll leave the resort feeling full, revived, and happy — ready to take on this new chapter in your life.
