This Pilates Instructor Has the Best Prenatal Workout Videos
Melissa Wood understands what it’s like to workout pregnant, having two children herself.
She understands the toll pregnancy takes on the female body, how some days even just getting out of bed is tricky. She also understands the importance of even a little movement when it comes to your pregnancy, labor and overall mental health.
That’s why she felt it was important to devote an entire section of the Melissa Wood Health Method to prenatal workouts. One video with Melissa and you quickly gauge how completely in tune with the female body she is — pregnant or not. Wherever you are on your pregnancy (or Pilates journey) MWH has something for you, from beginner, to pre/postnatal friendly, to advanced — she even has a treadmill and aquatic series. What’s even more key for us moms though, is her variety of class lengths. Don’t have time to work out? She’s got you covered with a quick 15-minute standing series. Want to get some serious reps in? Try her 30 minute power flow. Melissa Wood Health is flexible to your needs, all from the comfort of your home.
So who is Melissa Wood?
Melissa Wood-Tepperberg is a former model turned certified health coach, yoga and Pilates instructor, and last but not least, mom to two beautiful kids. She developed Melissa Wood Health in 2016 and was building a steady following when covid hit and her business absolutely exploded. She was in prime position to gather new devoted followers as everyone took their workouts from the gym to their living room, and gather followers she did. That’s when we discovered the magic that is Melissa Wood Health Method, and we have yet to return to the gym.
You want lean arms, thighs, and a sculpted butt? You’re in the right place.
What we like most about Melissa Wood Health is how she breaks down each video in easy to follow moves, so even if you are brand spanking new to Pilates she makes you feel completely comfortable following along. Her prenatal videos in particular remind you to listen to your body and drink water, which if we’re being honest we can always use that reminder. While the videos are considered low impact, trust us when we say they yield high results. You want lean arms, thighs, and a sculpted butt? You’re in the right place.
As her site states, the MWH Method, “Sculpts beautiful long lean lines throughout your entire body using precise, low impact movements. But this practice isn’t just about building a body you desire; it’s about building a better, stronger relationship with yourself.” Every week two new workout videos are published, adding to her every growing library of over 250 workouts. What’s great is you can start now with some prenatal workouts, and continue the practice into postnatal and beyond. Trust us when we say if you weren’t already glowing from pregnancy you’ll be glowing after a week with MWH. What she does for your legs, creating long lean lines, is nothing compared to the mental cleanse you feel with each workout.
We highly recommend trying her 7-day free trial here, https://melissawoodhealth.com/ so you too can experience the hype. If it works for you, you can subscribe for $9.99 per month or $99.99 per year. That’s less than our fancy NYC gym-membership that shall not be named. Also, it’s worth noting we are not sponsored in anyway, just huge fans.
An important pregnancy note — most of the prenatal videos will walk you through some form of inner/outer thigh work out, glute workout, and arm workout, but they will avoid targeted abdominal exercises. During pregnancy, the growing uterus stretches the muscles in the abdomen, this alone can cause the muscles to become separated in a condition known as diastasis recti abdominis. Exercises that focus on abs can increase your chances from suffering from diastasis recto, so please be sure to practice prenatal-safe workouts. As always if anything does not feel right consult your OBGYN.
